About Sort
Sort is a not-for-profit service offering fair, accessible Adult ADHD assessments. We created Sort in response to long NHS waiting lists and the high cost of private care.
Any surplus generated through Sort is reinvested directly into local health and inclusion services in Yorkshire, helping to strengthen the NHS and support people who face the greatest barriers to care.
Our focus is simple: clear information, experienced clinicians, and care that feels human.
You will be assessed by an experienced, qualified clinician with a background in adult mental health and neurodevelopmental care. Our clinicians have worked across NHS and independent services and bring a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to every assessment.
At Sort, you will be listened to with care, curiosity and respect.
ADHD Assessments
An ADHD assessment appointment usually lasts around 180 minutes. This gives enough time to talk through your experiences properly, understand how difficulties affect your life now and in the past, and ask questions and feel clear about next steps.
No. Sort offers genuine clinical assessments, not guaranteed diagnoses. Our role is to help you understand what is going on, not to force a particular outcome.
Your clinician will explain the outcome clearly and sensitively, discuss alternative explanations where appropriate, and offer recommendations or signposting. You will not be left without support.
Before your appointment we keep paperwork manageable, explain what to expect in plain language, offer a free informal call, and are available to answer questions. Our service is designed to reduce stress, not add to it.
If you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. Our cancellation policy is shared clearly at booking and applied fairly.
After the assessment
Treatment options may include understanding ADHD, advice around reasonable adjustments, medication where appropriate, and signposting to coaching, therapy or other support. Decisions are made together based on your needs and preferences.
Shared Care is an arrangement where Sort completes the assessment and initiates treatment, and your GP may take over prescribing once medication is stable. Shared Care is not guaranteed and depends on your GP practice.
Costs vary depending on the medication and whether it is prescribed privately or via the NHS. Likely costs are discussed before medication is started so there are no surprises.
When this happens it’s under something called ‘Shared Care’ arrangements and NHS prescribing following a private diagnosis vary and can’t be guaranteed.
Face-to-face appointments
Appointments take place at Bevan House, 14 Piccadilly, Bradford, BD1 3LS.
There is on-street and nearby pay-and-display parking close to Bevan House. We recommend allowing extra time at busy periods.
Bevan House is within walking distance of Bradford Interchange and served by local bus routes.
